Melky needs boost in All-Star Game voting

June 14th, 2016

CHICAGO -- Melky Cabrera has been the White Sox most consistent offensive force since the start of the 2016 season. So it's understandable why the switch-hitting left fielder stands as the team's lone position player in the Top 15 among outfielders and Top 5 everywhere else in the latest round of American League All-Star voting released on Tuesday.
Cabrera ranks 13th among the AL outfielders with a vote total of 369,194. The AL outfield has a tight competition for the starting three spots, with Mike Trout (1,812,731), Jackie Bradley Jr. (1,322,929), Lorenzo Cain (1,146,885), Mark Trumbo (1,110,720) and Mookie Betts (1,069,912) in the mix. The White Sox best bet for All-Star representation is ace Chris Sale, who has been selected as an All-Star in each of the four previous years.
