'Strikeouts for Savings' promo returns for '16

Mets offering discount on tickets based on whiffs recorded on road trip

April 18th, 2016

PHILADELPHIA -- The Mets on Monday announced the return of their "Strikeouts for Savings" promotion, which discounts tickets based upon the number of batters their pitchers whiff. For every strikeout Mets pitchers record from April 18-24 in Philadelphia and Atlanta, the team will discount select tickets on their next homestand by 1 percent.
Tickets affected by the promotion will go on sale within one hour of the conclusion of Sunday's game in Atlanta at mets.com/strikeouts.
The Mets came into Monday's play averaging 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings, the fourth-best rate in baseball. Noah Syndergaard, who is scheduled to start twice during the promotion, was third among starters in the Majors in that statistic.
In Monday's 5-2 win in Philadelphia, Mets pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts, led by eight from Syndergaard.
