MINNEAPOLIS -- It's a new week, but Minnesota's Miguel Sano holds a commanding lead for his position in the latest American League All-Star update.
In the fourth update, which was released on Tuesday, Sano is the top vote-getter at third base with 1,302,090 votes. Jose Ramirez of the Indians is a distant second with 891,731 votes. Toronto's Josh Donaldson (810,648), Baltimore's Manny Machado (803,921), and Houston's Alex Bregman (688,450) round out the top-five at the hot corner.
Sano, who homered in Tuesday's win over the White Sox, has paced the AL at third base ever since trailing Machado in the first official update. He has a team-best 16 homers and 48 RBIs, to go along with his .559 slugging percentage. Per Fangraphs, his wRC+ (weighted runs created) of 147 is the 17th-best mark in all of baseball. Sano has also been MLB's hardest hitter with an average exit velocity of 96 mph, according to Statcast™
