Eovaldi has successful surgery
Yankees right-hander could be sidelined up to 18 months
August 19th, 2016
Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi underwent successful Tommy John surgery, as well as a right flexor tendon repair, on Friday.
The surgery was performed by Yankees head team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
This marked the second time Eovaldi, 26, had Tommy John surgery. He previously had his UCL repaired as a 17-year-old high schooler. The estimated rehab time for the flexor tendon surgery is between three and six months. However, being that this is Eovaldi's second Tommy John surgery, the rehab process is likely to be a bit longer than usual, possibly up to 18 months.
Eovaldi was 9-8 with a 4.76 ERA in 24 appearances (21 starts) this season, his second with the Yanks.
