The Kansas City Royals announce that painting has begun on the fourth mural in the Raised Royal Mural Program. JT Daniels is painting the mural with assistance from youth at the Mattie Rhodes Center.
Daniels is painting along Stadium Drive bridge near Manchester Trafficway. The location is a public area, so the city of Kansas City and Jackson County executives worked closely with the Royals to ensure completion of the project.
"The Royals Mural Program is a great example of the magic that can happen when our community works together," said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. "Transforming the Stadium Drive Bridge into a symbol of pride is an excellent use of existing County infrastructure to showcase our vibrant community. In addition, I am thrilled youth at the Mattie Rhodes Center contributed their skills to help JT Daniels, the local lead artist, complete this dynamic piece of artwork. Opportunities to express themselves are key to their growth and education. I appreciate the dedication of the Kansas City Royals, who continue to give back and keep the passion alive for all who are Raised Royal."
The 2017 Mural Program gives local artists the opportunity to create murals depicting their interpretation of what it means to be Raised Royal. Three other murals were previously completed, and more will be painted throughout the season. The design for the Raised Royal Fan Express Bus was also created by a local artist as a part of the program.
