O's sweep White Sox behind Tillman, Mancini

May 7th, 2017

BALTIMORE -- Joey Rickard and each put up three hits, Chris Tillman had a solid return and the Orioles completed the weekend sweep of the White Sox with Sunday's 4-0 victory at Camden Yards.
Mancini, who homered in Saturday's win, went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the finale to bring his season total to 18 runs driven in. Mancini is second on the team, behind only Manny Machado, who notched RBI No. 21 with a second-inning single off Sox starter .
"We were fortunate, though. We had some flares fall in. Some things that seem to have been not happening, and we took advantage of them," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "I really like Quintana. He just had one of those days where it seems like everything we put a bat on seemed to find a spot, in certain situations, early. We didn't do a whole lot after the first couple innings, but the pitching made it stand up."

entered in the sixth inning to relieve Tillman and contributed 3 1/3 scoreless frames of his own, posting two strikeouts.

Quintana went five innings, his shortest start of the season, and he allowed four runs. Tillman also went five frames, but he kept Chicago off the board in his return from the disabled list. The Sox suffered their first three-game sweep of the season.
"I think we take [from] this series [some] lessons and use them to our advantage, in terms of what we could possibly do the next time we have certain situations that arise for us," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Boom Boom, pow: Mancini, nicknamed Boom Boom by the Baltimore faithful, just keeps hitting. He went 5-for-7 with four RBIs in the weekend series, and he continues to take advantage of his playing time with the O's. Rickard, meanwhile, had two singles and a double for his first three-hit game of the season.
"It feels great to be back out there consistently. It feels good to help contribute," Rickard said.
Tillman returns: Baltimore's Opening Day starter the previous three seasons, Tillman looked rusty in the first inning, issuing a pair of walks. But he cruised after that, holding the Sox to three hits and striking out four to pick up the win.

"Physically, [it] felt good to be back out there with the guys," Tillman said. "I think, the first inning felt like I never had thrown a pitch in the big leagues before. As the game went on, it got better."
