O's option Rickard; Trumbo nearing return

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles optioned outfielder Joey Rickard to Triple-A Norfolk after Sunday's 5-3 win over the Tigers. Rickard, who was recalled on Saturday, went 1-for-5 with two runs and three walks in two games.

The move will allow the Orioles to activate Mark Trumbo, who has been on the 10-day disabled list all season with a right quad injury, on Tuesday when they play the Angels in Anaheim.

The Orioles are also expected to place infielder Luis Sardinas on the 10-day DL with a sore lower back, which he injured on Saturday.
