Bundy, O's pitchers dominate intrasquad game

February 28th, 2016

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles played a 5 1/2-inning intrasquad game Sunday to help get prepared for Grapefruit League play, which begins Tuesday against the Braves.
There wasn't much offense, but there were some impressive pitching performances. Dylan Bundy, Hunter Harvey and Jason Garcia were among the hurlers who threw well. Bundy struck out Matt Wieters and Chris Davis.

"I thought the pitching was crisp," manager Buck Showalter said. "All of them."

Bundy is expected to get the same workload as the rest of the pitchers, while Harvey will probably be eased in more. The reason is that Bundy is out of options and has to make the club if healthy.
"I think one of the things we need to accomplish here [is], 'Can he handle the load like it's going to be during the season?'" Showalter said. "I know we're not backing off. If anything, he might get a tad more than everybody else. We'll let him get into a schedule, but he'll get the ball pretty regularly. I hope he carries ... he was pretty good today."
Worth noting
Showalter announced his starting pitchers for the beginning of Grapefruit League play, with Mike Wright getting the call in Tuesday's opener in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., against the Braves, with Tyler Wilson to follow Wright to the mound. Ubaldo Jimenez, Miguel Gonzalez and Vance Worley will start Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively.
