Padres announce Caravan, FanFest plans

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres on Tuesday announced plans for their Community Caravan and their annual FanFest.
The caravan will encompass San Diego County and Tijuana on Feb. 11-13, and will include players, coaches, alumni, executives and broadcasters, along with the Pad Squad and the Swinging Friar at various events.

The Padres' annual FanFest will take place at Petco Park on April 1-2 during the team's exhibition games against the White Sox. More details will be announced at a later date.
For the caravan, players and coaches who are expected to attend include first-year manager Andy Green, James Shields, Tyson Ross, Andrew Cashner, Cory Spangenberg and more.
The caravan kicks off on Feb. 11, a Thursday, at Petco Park, where fans are invited to show up at 9 a.m. to see the team's equipment truck as it packs up and departs for Peoria, Ariz. At 10 a.m., Spring Training tickets go on sale at Padres.com.
Players will make appearances at two Padres School Pop-Ins during the caravan. To have your school considered for one of these events, visit Padres.com/schoolpopin.
On Feb. 12, the Padres Volunteer Team makes a stop in southeast San Diego to refurbish Sunshine Berardini Field Park. Refurbishments will include infield and outfield maintenance, painting of buildings, general groundskeeping and a variety of safety improvements under the guidance of Padres grounds crew and Petco Park facilities management.
There will also be a stop Friday at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA to announce a Major League Baseball All-Star Community Legacy project.
On Feb. 13, Padres players will help celebrate the Bonita Valley Softball Opening Day and officially mark the expansion of Future Padres, the club's youth jersey program.
The Feb. 13 schedule also includes public pep rallies at three local Westfield shopping centers: Plaza Bonita, North County and UTC. The caravan will head south of the border on Saturday afternoon for a visit at the Hospital General de Tijuana and a baseball clinic at Estadio Gasmart, home of the Toros de Tijuana.
