Goldy, Lamb rising but still out of starting lineup

PHOENIX -- The good news when it comes to the D-backs and voting for the 2017 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard is that first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has moved up the leaderboard and third baseman Jake Lamb made his first appearance in the top five at his position.

The bad news is that both players, along with shortstop Chris Owings, have a ways to go if they hope to be in the National League's starting lineup.

Goldschmidt moved up from fourth to third with 560,456 trailing Ryan Zimmerman (1,060,532) and Anthony Rizzo (950,851).

Lamb, who has been at or near the top of the NL when it comes to RBIs this year, is fifth with 387,228 votes. That puts him behind Kris Bryant (1,248,348), Nolan Arenado (951,747), Justin Turner (503,286) and Anthony Rendon (489,809). Lamb has never been to an All-Star Game before having lost out last year in the Final Vote.

Owings, meanwhile, has dropped from fourth to fifth with 426,590 votes behind Zack Cozart (997,966), Corey Seager (804,788), Addison Russell (758,037) and Trea Turner (502,988).

Goldschmidt has appeared in each of the last four All-Star Games and was the starter at first base in 2014 and 2015.
