February 4th, 2017

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies and will not need salary arbitration this month.
The team announced Friday it had agreed to a one-year contract with Hernandez to avoid arbitration. A source said Hernandez will be paid $2.55 million.
Philadelphia and Hernandez had exchanged numbers last month when they could not reach an initial agreement. The Phillies filed at $2 million, and Hernandez filed at $2.8 million. In other words, the Phils and Hernandez met a little above the midway point.
MLB Trade Rumors predicted Hernandez would earn $2.5 million in salary arbitration.
Hernandez, 26, hit .294 with 14 doubles, 11 triples, six home runs, 39 RBIs and a .764 OPS in 622 plate appearances last season. His .371 on-base percentage ranked 22nd out of 146 qualified batters in the Majors.
