Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Austin Meadows (Pirates' No. 2), Altoona vs. New Hampshire (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Baseball's No. 16 overall prospect has been some kind of hot lately, hitting safely in 21 straight games for Double-A Altoona. He has tallied an extra-base hit in each of his past five contests and has 20 during his streak, including all five of his home runs. The 21-year-old center fielder is raking at a .415 clip over his last 21 games for the Curve, during which he's raised his average to .310 from .192.
Pitcher to watch: Marcos Diplan (Brewers' No. 19), Wisconsin at Quad Cities (8 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Diplan, 19, has been outstanding this year in his full-season debut while operating as part of Class A Wisconsin's piggyback starting rotation. The right-hander has pitched to a 1.89 ERA across his 12 appearances (six starts), with 64 strikeouts and 24 walks in 47 2/3 innings. He's allowed two home runs in that span while holding opposing hitters to a .188 average.
Duel of the day: Kohl Stewart (Twins' No. 7) vs. Jen-Ho Tseng (Cubs' No. 24), Chattanooga at Tennessee (12:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Stewart is set to make his third start for Double-A Chattanooga. Though he struggled in his Lookouts debut, the 21-year-old right-hander rebounded to toss six scoreless innings in his next outing on June 9. Prior to his promotion, Stewart had registered a 2.61 ERA over 51 2/3 innings (nine starts) for Class A Advanced Fort Myers.
Tseng will be making his second start for Double-A Tennessee since being activated from the disabled list. In his previous turn, the Taiwanese right-hander allowed two runs over five scoreless innings, striking out five, against Mississippi.
