Pipeline preview: Newcomb set for Game 2 of Southern League Finals

Pitcher to watch: (Braves' No. 3), Mississippi at Jackson, Game 2 of the Southern League Finals (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Newcomb, No. 49 on the Top 100, did not earn a decision in Game 1 of the Southern League semifinals despite allowing one earned run on two hits in five innings for Double-A Mississippi. The 6-foot-5 left-hander recorded six strikeouts but also matched his season high with six walks, while throwing 51 of his 96 pitches for strikes.

Hitter to watch: Hunter Renfroe (Padres' No. 3), El Paso vs. Oklahoma City, Game 1 of the Pacific Coast League championship (8:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Renfroe's bat helped to power Triple-A El Paso to the Pacific Coast League Finals, as he went 3-for-4 and hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning in Game 4 of the semifinals against Tacoma. The No. 42 overall prospect batted .306/.336/.557 during the regular season, with 30 home runs, 34 doubles and 105 RBIs in 133 games.
