White Sox reinstate Eloy Jiménez from 10-day injured list; Designate José Rondón for assignment

CHICAGO -- Prior to this afternoon’s series finale vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Eloy Jiménez from the 10-day injured list and designated infielder José Rondón for assignment.

Jiménez, 23, has been on the injured list since July 17 with a right ulnar nerve contusion suffered in the first inning on July 16 at Kansas City. He is batting .244 (59-for-242) with 17 home runs, 39 RBI and 36 runs scored in 67 games in 2019. Jiménez ranks among the American League rookie leaders in homers (1st), total bases (3rd, 117), RBI (4th) and extra-base hits (T6th, 24).

Rondón, 25, is hitting .197 (28-for-142) with three doubles, three homers, nine RBI and 10 runs scored in 55 games this season, his second with the White Sox. He was acquired from San Diego in exchange for cash considerations on January 10, 2018.

Chicago’s 40-man roster decreases to 39.
