Pulaski crushes Bristol State Liners, 13-4

July 9th, 2021

The Pulaski River Turtles dominate with a 13-4 victory over the Bristol State Liners. The game experienced a 90-minute rain delay in the sixth, but that wouldn’t stop the River Turtles from putting up an explosive 8-run inning. Pulaski now stands at 17-11, still in first place in the East. Bristol falls to 15-11 on the season, as well as falling to third in the West.

The State Liners started strong, with a 2-run third and a 2-run fourth. The River Turtles put up a 2-run fourth of their own, courtesy of a 2 RBI single by Evan Minarovic.

Pulaski would add on another run in the fifth to make it 4-3 Bristol, off a 452 ft moonshot by Ryan Johnson over the left-center field wall. This would be the final run scored before the 90-minute rain delay.

After the rain delay it seemed like a completely new game, as Pulaski exploded for an 8-run sixth. Ross Lovich would start the scoring off with a 2 RBI double. John Bay would bat in another two runs off a single. Garrett Rice with a single of his own, would bring in John Bay and make the game 8-4.

The inning would be far from done though, as Austin Bates in his second at-bat of the inning would hit a 2-RBI triple off the left-center field wall and make the game 10-4. The final run of the inning would come from an RBI single by Minarovic and make the game 11-4.

Pulaski would add on a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth and make the 13-4. A homer over the right-field wall by Ross Lovich, and an RBI triple by John Bay would cap off the night for Pulaski.

The win went to Carter Lyles as he went three-and-two-thirds inning, allowed only one hit, no runs, walked 1, and struck-out 2. The loss went to Corbin Barker, going two-thirds of an inning, allowing 4 hits, seven runs, walked one, and struck-out one.

The River Turtles look to complete the sweep tomorrow with a rematch against the State Liners.
