Rain delaying start of Braves-Cubs makeup

July 7th, 2016

CHICAGO -- The start of Thursday's game between the Cubs and Braves at Wrigley Field has been delayed because of rain. The contest is a makeup game of an April 30 contest that was postponed by inclement weather. First pitch is expected to be at 9:40 p.m. ET/8:40 p.m. CT.
Jason Hammel (7-5, 3.45 ERA), who served up five home runs to the Mets in his most recent start, was scheduled to face the Braves and right-hander Lucas Harrell (1-0, 1.50 ERA).
The Braves got an extra day in Chicago with the makeup game against the Cubs as they open a weekend Interleague series against the White Sox on Friday.
