SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Saturday's almost ceaseless rain forced the Giants to adjust their workout regimen. And with more rain expected Sunday, lack of sufficient preparation is a concern as the Giants approach Friday's Cactus League opener against the Reds.
The first day of "live" batting practice, with hitters facing pitchers instead of coaches, was postponed until Monday. However, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he was "not ruling out" live work on Sunday if the rain stops long enough over Scottsdale Stadium.

Position players contented themselves by retreating to batting cages, while pitchers played catch to keep their throwing arms limber.
Typically, the Giants would conduct an intrasquad game on the day before the exhibition opener. But they might decide that a full-fledged workout would represent more constructive use of their time.
• Bochy and Giants coaches met with Joe Torre, chief baseball officer for Major League Baseball, and other officials at Scottsdale Stadium to discuss rules changes that will be implemented in 2017. Also in attendance were Giants executive vice president of baseball operations Brian Sabean and general manager Bobby Evans. Though on-field rules were primarily discussed, Bochy expressed enthusiastic support for the 10-day disabled list, which has replaced the 15-day format.
• Legendary country music singer and songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker was an unofficial visitor to the Giants' premises Saturday. Walker, best known for writing "Mr. Bojangles," was accompanying Tim Flannery, the former Giants third-base coach and current musician who provides commentary on MLB Network and Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area.
