Texas Rangers acquire OF Pedro Gonzalez from Colorado to complete Jonathan Lucroy trade

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired outfielder Pedro Gonzalez from Colorado to complete the trade that sent catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Rockies on July 30.

Gonzalez, who does not turn 20 until October 27, will be assigned from short season-A Grand Junction of the Pioneer League to short season-A Spokane of the Northwest League.

Gonzalez, who does not turn 20 until October 27, will be assigned from short season-A Grand Junction of the Pioneer League to short season-A Spokane of the Northwest League.

The right-handed batter has a stat line of .321/.388/.519/.906 with three homers and 28 RBI in 45 games for Grand Junction in 2017. The 6-foot-5 Gonzalez ranks among the Pioneer League leaders in triples (2nd, 6), stolen bases (T7th, 11), hits (T11th, 60), and average (14th). While playing primarily in centerfield, he is batting .472 (25-53) with 10 RBI in his last 13 games to raise his average from .261. He has been bothered by sore right index finger over the last week but returned to the lineup on Monday, going 4-for-6.

Colorado's 14th rated prospect by MLB.com, Gonzalez is in his third professional season after being signed as a non-drafted free agent in July 2014 out of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He made the switch from shortstop to centerfield after his first pro season. His career stat line is .262/.327/.433/.760 in 173 games.
