Rangers mourn former traveling secretary Lyngos

ARLINGTON -- Chris Lyngos, the Rangers' popular and industrious traveling secretary from 1998-2014, passed away on Tuesday. He was 49.
A service of remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. CT on Thursday in the Jack Daniel's Club at Globe Life Park in Arlington. A family fund has been established through the Do It For Durrett Foundation, whose mission is to assist families affected by sudden loss.
Donations can be made for the Lyngos Family Fund online at the Do It For Durrett Foundation's website through Dec. 15.
Lyngos joined the Rangers as a group sales intern in the ticket office in 1992 before joining the club full time as an assistant in ballpark development during the construction of then The Ballpark in Arlington. He later served as the team's director of special events, coordinating all activities at the Rangers Youth Ballpark and other ballpark events.
He became the Rangers' traveling secretary in 1998. He was named Major League Baseball's Traveling Secretary of the Year in 2010, when the Rangers went to the World Series for the first time in club history.
