CINCINNATI -- The Reds announced changes in their baseball operations department of the front office on Thursday that could signal a new direction in both scouting and development.
Vice president of amateur scouting Chris Buckley has been named the club's vice president of player personnel. Senior director of player development Jeff Graupe has been shifted to senior director of player personnel.
Cincinnati has not named replacements at its former positions.
Buckley will have an expanded role that will include professional scouting, international and special assignments. Now in his 13th season with the club, he was hired by former general manager Wayne Krivsky and has overseen the organization's Drafts since 2006.
Graupe, also in his 13th season with the Reds, became the head of the team's player development in 2012. His new role will have him more actively involved in player evaluation and decisions to acquire amateur and professional players.
Also announced was that director of international scouting Tony Arias will now focus primarily on domestic amateur scouting. Arias has been in charge of international scouting since 2014, and he served as director of Latin America scouting before that.
