Pipeline Preview: Winker looking to build off four-hit effort

May 24th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: (Reds' No. 3), Louisville at Pawtucket (6:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Winker recorded four hits on Tuesday for the second time this season, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs in Triple-A Louisville's win over Pawtucket. The No. 59 overall prospect connected on his second homer, a two-run shot in the first inning, and later added a double. On Wednesday he'll square off against 2012 AL Cy Young winner , who's set to make his second rehab start for Pawtucket.

Pitcher to watch: Tony Santillan (Reds' No. 14), Dayton at Great Lakes (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Santillan has been rolling of late for Class A Dayton, posting a 0.96 ERA with 22 strikeouts and zero walks across his last three starts totaling 18 2/3 innings. The 20-year-old righty has lowered his season ERA from 4.00 to 2.76 during that stretch, and he's now fanned 47 batters in 45 2/3 innings for the Dragons.

Duel of the day: (Cardinals' No. 3) vs. (Giants' No. 8), Memphis at Sacramento (3:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Weaver, MLBPipeline.com's No. 60 overall prospect, was roughed up for the first time this season in his last start for Triple-A Memphis, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in five innings. The 23-year-old righty was stellar before that, however, going 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 20 innings (three starts) after coming off the disabled list.

Gregorio, 25, has been effective this season despite issuing 29 walks in 43 2/3 innings (6.1 BB/9) across eight starts for Sacramento. The 6-foot-7 right-hander owns a 2.47 ERA in that span, thanks largely to a .199 opponents' batting average and 36 strikeouts.
