DENVER -- Hitting almost everything you see is a good way to earn the National League's Player of the Week honors, and that's how Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon got the nod.
Blackmon hit in all seven games last week, raking for a .424 average (14-for-33), totaling three walks, five home runs and nine RBIs amid a white-hot stretch that included six multihit games.

"He can get streaky at times, especially with the power," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "He's got sneaky power. He'll hit some home runs, but when he gets a hold of them, he'll hit some long ones."
Blackmon's longest home run of the week was his final one, a 451-foot shot, according to Statcast™.

An All-Star in 2014, Blackmon is making a case to return to the game by spearheading a Colorado lineup pacing the NL in runs, batting average and slugging. Blackmon is among the league leaders in runs and hitting, and is on pace to set career highs in home runs, RBIs and slugging.
"I haven't changed a whole lot, I'm just relaxed and swinging at good pitches," Blackmon said. "I like to always make good contact, whether or not it goes over the fence."
The defining moment of Blackmon's week came when he barreled two home runs and made a spectacular diving catch in the Rockies' 8-4 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

The Player of the Week honor is the third of Blackmon's career and his first since April 6, 2014.
"I haven't really thought about this past week, but it's a nice honor, there's a lot of good players in the league," Blackmon said. "I try not to think about it."
