Royals place Strahm on DL; recall Almonte

July 1st, 2017

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have placed left-hander on the 10-day disabled list and recalled right-hander from Triple-A Omaha. Kansas City said Almonte was en route to Kauffman Stadium, and it believed he would be in uniform for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Strahm exited the game with two outs in the fourth inning of the Royals' 11-6 win over the Twins earlier on Saturday with left knee inflammation.
"He's got some patellar tendinitis," Royals manager Ned Yost said after the game. "He's been playing through it a little bit, and it got a little worse out there. It just got sore. He was having trouble pushing off."
Almonte has made one appearance with the Royals this season. The 24-year-old allowed three runs on four hits against the Indians on May 28.
