CHICAGO -- The Royals' players did a little soul-searching before their first post-All-Star break victory on Tuesday night. They tried that old standard -- a team meeting to shake up things.
"It was just something to bring us together, clear our heads and just kind of talk out what's going on right now. Everybody could say what they wanted to say," third baseman Mike Moustakas said.
"Just a good forum for us to talk about what's been happening and to come together as a team, and that's what we were able to do."
It must have worked because the Royals mopped up the White Sox, 7-1, and Moustakas drove in three of the runs with two homers.
This was a players-only confab, but manager Ned Yost had tried one of his own meetings after the Royals were swept in Boston on Sunday. He was happy that the players held their own after the losing streak hit four.
"Every once in a while, they need to take care of their business," Yost said. "I've had three or four of 'em and it's good that they did it. It just shows that they're not satisfied with this and are not satisfied with the way they were playing. They regrouped today and the results were obvious."
