Ventura day to day with tight lower back

Yost expects Royals righty to make final '16 start

September 24th, 2016

DETROIT -- Royals right-hander left Saturday's 7-4 win over the Tigers after facing one hitter in the fifth inning because of what the Royals indicated was lower back tightness and spasms.
Royals manager Ned Yost said after the game that he didn't believe the injury was serious, and that he expected Ventura to make his final start of the season next weekend at Kauffman Stadium.

With the Royals trailing, 3-1, Ventura gave up a double to down the right-field line.
Moments later, Yost, trainer Nick Kenney, pitching coach Dave Eiland and catcher all met on the mound. After a few moments of discussion, Ventura left with Kenney back to the dugout.
Ventura gave up three runs on 10 hits, struck out six and walked two in four-plus innings.
