"It felt pretty great," Ventura said. "My body, my arm, everything was good."
Ventura threw 32 pitches, 20 for strikes, and was consistently down in the zone.
What was working?
"Everything," Ventura said, smiling. "My mechanics were good. I throw every pitch down at the knees. I worked on my changeup more than my curveball. Maybe next start I'll work more on my curveball.
"When I throw my fastball and changeup, it was good location, outside and inside. It worked today."
Ventura appeared eager for the regular season to start.
"I'm ready to go," he said. "I'm working hard for my team and my teammates. And I'm ready for the season."
