Van Slyke hit .239 with six home runs and 30 RBIs in 2015. His numbers dipped after he missed three games in September with right hand and wrist inflammation, and he was left off the postseason roster.
The right-handed-hitting Van Slyke has primarily been used for matchups against left-handed pitchers. In his career, he has posted a .265/.370/.488 slash line against lefties, as opposed to a .242/.306/.402 mark against righties.
