Right-hander Seth Simmons and two relievers combined on a two-hit shutout for Double-A San Antonio Thursday night while 17-year-old left-hander Jose Cabrera turned in five scoreless innings for the Dominican Summer League Padres.
Simmons, 28, allowed two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in seven innings to extend his scoreless innings streak to 19 innings over his last three starts. Simmons improved to 2-3 and lowered his earned run average to 1.97 as the Missions scored a 3-0 win at Arkansas to improve to 28-25 in the second half of the Texas League and 50-73 overall.
Right-hander Adam Cimber (2.12) followed Simmons and pitched a perfect eighth. Right-hander Yimmi Brasoban (2.43) issued a walk in an otherwise perfect ninth for his fourth save.
First baseman Taylor Lindsey (.212) hit a two-run homer in four at-bats. Catcher Rocky Gale (.211) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Third baseman Josh VanMeter (.145) had a double in two at-bats with a walk and a run scored.
Cabrera allowed two hits and three walks with three strikeouts over five scoreless innings for the Dominican Padres.

LHP Keith Hessler (2.95) allowed two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. RHP Leonel Campos (4.57) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. RHP Austin Smith (5.01) came off the seven-day disabled list to allow two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with a strikeout in 2 1/3 innings. RHP Will Stillman retired both hitters he faced. LF Jose Carlos Urena (.217) was 2-for-4. C Hunter Redman (.400) was 2-for-3 with a walk.
