ARLINGTON -- Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo extended his on-base streak to 41 games in Friday's 11-3 win by drawing a leadoff walk against White Sox starter Dylan Covey.

"He's digging in and making it really challenging for you," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "That's what Choo does. That's what he's been doing, that's his mindset. He's up there to set the table for every hitter that comes after him, and he's been doing a great job of that."

Choo's streak is now the longest in the Majors this season. Philadelphia's Odubel Herrera had a 40-game on-base streak earlier this season. Choo is now tied with Toby Harrah for the third-longest on-base streak in club history.

The last longer streak in the American League was 43 games by Minnesota's Joe Mauer in 2015.

Choo also contributed one of five homers the Rangers hit in the game's first three innings, going deep against Chicago reliever Chris Volstad in the third.

"Really, he's not missing the pitch that he's looking to hit," Banister said.
