Top Tigers prospects help tame unruly tarp

July 21st, 2021

Sometimes at the ballpark, your job isn’t done once you put down the glove.

After torrential rain began to fall in Binghamton, N.Y., following the conclusion of the Erie Seawolves' contest against the Rumble Ponies, the grounds crew needed some extra muscle to help bring out the tarp due to the tricky weather. Who better than top Tigers prospects and current Erie players Spencer Torkelson and Dillon Dingler?

Torkelson and Dingler both offered their services to get the job done despite being on the away side and the Binghamton grounds crew couldn't have asked for a stronger duo. They had just watched Torkelson smash a homer and a double against them and Dingler has 10 homers on the year with a cannon for an arm behind the plate.

It might have been some newbie duties for Torkelson and Dingler as well, as both joined the team from High-A on June 15. Perhaps both have a future after baseball in ballpark management.
