Cards' J. Martinez hits 2 HRs off Red Sox

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- , who is trying to win a bench spot for the Cardinals, clubbed a pair of two-run homers to fuel his split squad to a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox on Monday afternoon at JetBlue Park.
Cards right-hander made his first spring start, scattered four hits while allowing one unearned run and a walk with two strikeouts against a solid Red Sox lineup.
For Boston, drilled two hits in his final game before departing to Korea on Tuesday to join the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic.

"Just trying to get my timing down as early as possible because I know I have to play in some really important games for my country," said Bogaerts. "It's just about getting the timing right and feeling in baseball shape."
Veteran outfielder Chris Young also had two hits, including a double off the Green Monster. Mitch Moreland added two hits and an RBI.
Red Sox prospect Tate Matheny came off the bench as a Minor League extra with his father, Mike, managing the Cardinals and struck out in his lone at-bat.

Red Sox: A split-squad Yankees roster will visit Fort Myers on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. ET on Gameday Audio in the first rivalry matchup of 2017. Non-roster invitee Kyle Kendrick makes the start for Boston, and , , Moreland, and will be in the lineup for manager John Farrell. Greg Bird will make the trip for the Yankees, and he'll be joined by No. 2 and No. 4 prospect .
