SARASOTA, Fla. -- Starlin Castro collected three hits and three RBIs during his first spring start at shortstop in the Yankees' 4-4 tie with the Orioles at Ed Smith Stadium on Thursday. The Orioles remain winless in 11 games to start the spring.
The Yankees struck first, beginning the game with three straight hits, including an RBI double by Castro. The next run came on a fielder's choice by Aaron Hicks.
New York put together another string of hits with the top of the order in the fifth, which was capped off by a two-run single from Castro to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.

"I'm working every day and trying not to take any days off," said Castro. "I feel really good at the plate. I want to feel the same way when the season starts."

Adam Jones homered in the first for the Orioles, who fought back in the seventh, taking advantage of some sloppy defense from the Yankees. An error by shortstop Jorge Mateo with two outs kept the inning alive, before an RBI infield single by Hyun Soo Kim and a two-run single by Steve Tolleson tied the game.
Kim's hit marked his first of the spring, breaking an 0-for-23 slump.
Baltimore right-hander Tyler Wilson finished the day allowing two runs on five hits in three innings.
"I felt good. Physically, I felt strong, felt like I commanded the zone really well, other than two-strike pitches," Wilson said. "That's probably the biggest takeaway for me today, I did a good job of getting ahead of guys and executing pitches early in the count, but I just didn't finish well."
Meanwhile, Yankees right-hander Bryan Mitchell allowed one run on four hits in three innings in his second start of the spring.
