Tuesday's best: Jaye fans 11 over six scoreless

May 24th, 2017

After Double-A Erie was forced to use six pitchers during Monday's 14-13 loss against Harrisburg, the SeaWolves desperately needed a big performance out of starter on Tuesday.
The Tigers' No. 15 prospect delivered, tossing six scoreless innings and setting a career high with 11 strikeouts before Erie walked it off in the ninth against the Senators to win, 2-1.

Jaye surrendered just four hits, including three singles, and walked two in the outing, which also saw the 25-year-old righty generate six ground-ball outs and throw a season-high 96 pitches, 61 for strikes.
"I made a lot of quality pitches," Jaye told MiLB.com. "My fastball had an extra tick or two in velocity. Both of my breaking balls -- slider and curveball -- were as good as I can remember them being in my career."
He owns a 4.30 ERA through 37 2/3 innings after the scoreless performance, Jaye's third of the season and second in his last three starts for Erie, though he's still in search of his first win, with an 0-4 record through eight starts.
