BALTIMORE -- D-backs right fielder was removed during the fifth inning of Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Orioles due to an apparent lack of hustle.
However, manager Chip Hale would not disclose the exact reason for Tomas' departure after the game.
"That's between he and I, that's a personal thing," Hale said. "Yas has played his tail off all year for us. He's one of the guys on this team that I really love. It's just between he and I."
Tomas struck out to end the fourth inning. On a dropped third strike, Tomas slowly trotted down the first-base line. He was easily gunned down by Baltimore catcher to end the frame.
After the strikeout, Tomas remained in the game to play right for the bottom of the fourth. But the next inning, he was replaced by .
When Hale was asked if he thought Tomas ran hard to first on the strikeout, he kept his previous stance, choosing to keep it personal.
"That's something between the two of us," Hale said.
Tomas, who declined to speak with reporters after the game, has been removed due to an apparent lack of hustle before. He was removed from a game against the Astros on Aug. 1, 2015, after not running out a grounder to first base.
