The countdown to today's non-waiver Trade Deadline is on. And because it's now in the final hours, when rumors and names are flying so fast it's tough to keep track, we've come up with a handy list of most of the bigger-name players who could be swapped before 4 p.m. ET hits.
To help sort things out, these trade chips are bagged into five different categories -- from most likely ("bags are packed") to least likely ("total longshot") to be dealt. And because it's fun to play matchmaker, each player comes with a few possible fits.

BAGS ARE PACKED
Jose Bautista, OF, Mets
Contract: Free agent after this season
After Bautista was let go by the Braves in May, the Mets took a flier but have no reason to hang onto a 37-year-old free-agent-to-be. Bautista has shown he might help a contender as a pinch-hitting option from the right side.
Possible fits: A's, Mariners, Yankees
Curtis Granderson, OF, Blue Jays
Contract: Free agent after this season
Clubs seeking a boost in on-base and slugging percentages from the left side should find Granderson, 37, readily available -- and rather useful (.341 OBP, .440 SLG vs. RHP in 2018).
Possible fits: D-backs, Indians, Phillies, Rockies, Yankees

Matt Harvey, RHP, Reds
Contract: Free agent after this season
The return might not be much because Harvey is just a rental, but he's almost certainly going to be dealt after improving his value with capable numbers (4.44 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) since being acquired by the Reds on May 8.
Possible fits: Brewers, Mariners

Brad Ziegler, RHP, Marlins [TRADED to the D-backs]
Contract: Free agent after this season
Ziegler is 38 years old and in the final months of his contract for a Miami team looking to shed salary. His 0.93 ERA in 29 games since June 1 helped make it happen.
MORE LIKELY THAN NOT
James Dozier, 2B, Twins
Contract: Free agent after this season
Many of Dozier's likelier destinations -- Arizona, Boston, Milwaukee and Philadelphia -- addressed their infield needs, but his righty power bat still could help a contender.
Possible fits: Dodgers, Indians, Pirates

Andrew McCutchen, OF, Giants
Contract: Free agent after this season
The Giants remain on the fringe of the NL postseason race, but McCutchen -- now 31 and sporting a career-low .753 OPS -- could be on the go, if the Giants decide to sell and save some money, according to MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
Possible fits: Indians, Phillies, Yankees
50/50 TOSS-UPS
Chris Archer, RHP, Rays
Contract: Under club control through 2021
Is this finally the year Archer gets swapped? Reports link him to upward of a dozen teams -- including some non-contenders because of his team-friendly contract -- and there's been so much smoke that it almost would be surprising if he stays with the Rays. Almost.
Possible fits: A's, Braves, Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, Phillies, Yankees

Kyle Barraclough, RHP, Marlins
Contract: Under club control through 2021
Barraclough is young (28), cost-efficient (controlled for three years after 2018) and good (2.54 ERA, 10.0 K/9). Lots of teams have checked in, but they'll need to meet Miami's price.
Possible fits: Braves, Cubs, Phillies, Red Sox
Kyle Gibson, RHP, Twins
Contract: Under club control through 2019
On one hand, the Twins may prefer to hang onto Gibson -- a 30-year-old with a 3.42 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and an 8.8 K/9 mark -- now that he's having a career year. On the other hand, they may trade him for the very same reason.
Possible fits: A's, Brewers, Mariners
Billy Hamilton, OF, Reds
Contract: Under club control through 2019
With the speed Hamilton brings on the bases and in the outfield, MLB.com's Mike Petriello dubs him a secret weapon as a pinch-runner/defensive replacement contenders could make a play for -- even if he brings little when it comes to the bat.
Possible fits: Indians, Mariners, Rockies
Jose Martinez, 1B/OF, Cardinals
Contract: Under club control through 2022
Martinez has a big bat (.304/.371/.487) but no real defensive home, and it appears he's fallen out of favor under new skipper Mike Shildt. The Cards could get a good haul back given how many years of control Martinez has.
Possible fits: Mariners, Yankees, Angels

Jonathan Schoop, 2B, Orioles
Contract: Under club control through 2019
The O's have the 26-year-old Schoop for one more year, so they might not sell low on him (.720 OPS) when they don't have to. Then again, the current AL Player of the Week has gotten scorching hot at just the right time to entice suitors.
Possible fits: Dodgers, Indians, Pirates

Adrian Beltre, 3B, Rangers
Contract: Free agent after this season
Given Beltre's age (39) and subpar performance (for him) in another season impacted by injury and -- not to mention, his 10-and-5 rights and status with the Rangers as a legacy player -- it's becoming harder to find just the right fit to get this 21-year vet a shot at his first title.
Possible fits: Braves, Indians, Red Sox

Nicholas Castellanos, OF, Tigers
Contract: Under club control through 2019
Chatter around Castellanos, 26, has quieted in recent days, but he's appealing for his .292/.346/.496 line and extra year of club control.
Possible fits: A's, Indians, Phillies
Shin-Soo Choo, OF/DH, Rangers
Contract: Under club control through 2020
Texas hasn't heard much on Choo, because his age (36), contract (owed $21 million in both 2019 and '20) and defensive shortcomings are prohibitive. A team seeking on on-base machine, however, could be interested in his .392 OBP -- if the Rangers eat a very large chunk of his salary.
Possible fits: Indians, Mariners

Bryce Harper, OF, Nationals
Contract: Free agent after this season
That Harper was considered a trade candidate would have been utterly unfathomable at the outset of this season. Word was, however, that the underachieving Nationals considered going through with dealing one of their franchise faces in his walk year and reportedly made it known that Harper was available. On Tuesday, however, Nats GM Mike Rizzo told the Washingon Post that "Bryce is not going anywhere. I believe in this team."
Possible fits: A's, Indians, Phillies, Rockies, Yankees
Raisel Iglesias, RHP, Reds
Contract: Under club control through 2021
Iglesias is 28, sports a 2.11 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP and his contract calls for just $5 million in each of 2019 and '20 (if he doesn't opt for arbitration after the season). He could get the Reds a massive return -- if they actually pull the trigger and trade him.
Possible fits: Braves, Phillies, Pirates
Wilson Ramos, C, Rays
Contract: Free agent after this season
Ramos would have been in the "bags are packed" category if not for a left hamstring injury that's keeping him out into early August. But it's not out of the question that a contender takes a gamble on his bat picking up where it left off (.297/.346/.488) when he returns.
Possible fits: Nationals, Red Sox, Yankees

Zack Wheeler, RHP, Mets
Contract: Under club control through 2019
His recent resurgence (3.28 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 since mid-May) has put him in demand -- but also gives the Mets more reason to hold on to him in hopes of bouncing back as a contender next year.
Possible fits: Braves, Brewers, Yankees
TOTAL LONGSHOTS
Jacob deGrom, RHP, Mets
Contract: Under club control through 2020
Admittedly, the Mets trading a controllable ace with an MLB-best 1.82 ERA and a legitimate shot at the NL Cy Young Award always seemed like a bit of a pipe dream. The news that New York is looking to contend -- not rebuild -- in 2019 just about cinches things.
Possible fits: Dodgers, Padres, Yankees

J.T. Realmuto, C, Marlins
Contract: Under club control through 2020
Should the Nats go the other direction and buy, their hole behind the plate makes them the most natural fit for Realmuto, a player they have coveted -- but for whom they have been unwilling to meet the Marlins' extraordinary cost of acquisition -- for some time.
Possible fits: Nationals, Red Sox, Yankees

Noah Syndergaard, RHP, Mets
Contract: Under club control through 2021
Syndergaard still holds a ton of value because of his years of control and premium stuff. At some point, though, he's going to have to take the ball every fifth day regularly. The Mets aren't about to sell low on this front-of-the-rotation arm.
