Watch Cahill's acrobatic, but awry, fielding

May 15th, 2019

Trevor Cahill gets an "A" for effort, but a lesser grade for execution.

The Angels pitcher made a valiant try for an acrobatic out on a ball hit by Jonathan Schoop during Wednesday's game against the Twins. The right-hander fielded a slow roller near the the first-base line and tried an all-in-one-motion, behind-the-back flip to first baseman Jared Walsh.

Cahill's glove, however, went one direction while the ball went the other. The errant toss eluded Walsh and rolled into the first-base dugout. Schoop was awarded an infield hit and he, along with C.J. Cron, who was on first when the play began, were each awarded an extra base.

Ehire Adrianza drove both Twins in with a double to make Cahill's efforts all the more futile.
