Kepler exits with minor hip injury vs. Tigers

Twins don't expect ailment to be serious, OF to be reevaluated Sunday

DETROIT -- Twins right fielder Max Kepler left Saturday's 10-4 win against the Tigers at Comerica Park in the second inning with a left hip injury suffered on a throw home during the bottom of the first. But the Twins don't believe it's serious and he'll be reevaluated Sunday.
After a leadoff double from in the first, Alex Presley singled to right and Kepler tried to throw out Kinsler at home and appeared to slip on the play, falling over as he threw. Kepler remained in the game, but came out for pinch-hitter in the second. Adrianza popped out to first for the inning's second out.
"[Kepler's] OK," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "I think he just took an awkward fall there. We'll check him out in the morning. I don't think it's anything major. I just think there was some discomfort when he tried to swing a little bit. It was enough to be cautious and get him out of there. I don't know if it's more muscular, he might've torqued it funny."
Adrianza remained in the game in left, with moving from left field to right field. Adrianza had been starting against lefties in recent weeks, but Kepler had homered in back-to-back starts against lefties this week and started against lefty Matthew Boyd on Saturday. Adrianza went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring on an RBI single from Robbie Grossman in the seventh.

Kepler, 24, is hitting .244/.315/.430 with 19 homers and 68 RBIs in 142 games this season, while playing strong defense in right field.
