DETROIT -- Twins third baseman Miguel Sanó left Monday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers with right lower back tightness. He's day to day, but he said he expects to be out for at least a few games.
Sano has been dealing with the injury for the last few days after waking up with a sore back last week. It worsened as the game went along, and he exited in the bottom of the seventh, when he was replaced at third base by Eduardo Escobar, who moved over from shortstop. Jorge Polanco took over at short for Escobar.
"I think I'll need a couple days off, and then I can come back and play," Sano said. "When I was in the field and when I was hitting, I could feel it. Today I felt it more."

Sano was 0-for-3 before leaving the game. He made a nice play defensively in the third on a slow roller from J.D. Martinez, barehanding the ball and making a strong throw to first to end the inning. Sano said the play aggravated the injury, as did lining out to center in his first at-bat.
"His back tightened up on him a little bit," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "It's been bothering him for a short while but hasn't inhibited him too much. But he came in, and we had to make a change because it was bothering him more significantly, so we had to take him out."
