Sano to miss time with lower back tightness

Injury has lingered for Twins 3B, who said he'll 'need a couple days off'

DETROIT -- Twins third baseman left Monday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers with right lower back tightness. He's day to day, but he said he expects to be out for at least a few games.
Sano has been dealing with the injury for the last few days after waking up with a sore back last week. It worsened as the game went along, and he exited in the bottom of the seventh, when he was replaced at third base by , who moved over from shortstop. took over at short for Escobar.
"I think I'll need a couple days off, and then I can come back and play," Sano said. "When I was in the field and when I was hitting, I could feel it. Today I felt it more."

Sano was 0-for-3 before leaving the game. He made a nice play defensively in the third on a slow roller from , barehanding the ball and making a strong throw to first to end the inning. Sano said the play aggravated the injury, as did lining out to center in his first at-bat.
"His back tightened up on him a little bit," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "It's been bothering him for a short while but hasn't inhibited him too much. But he came in, and we had to make a change because it was bothering him more significantly, so we had to take him out."
