Tag team: Castillo, Segura cut down runner

March 12th, 2017

The Dominican Republic made some great defensive plays in its Pool C matchup with Colombia on Sunday, including when Orioles catcher and Mariners shortstop teamed up for an important caught-stealing in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dominicans would go on to hold off a furious Colombia rally and prevail, 10-3, in 11 innings at Marlins Park.
With the Dominicans leading, 3-2, and Yankees reliever on the mound, Colombia's Tito Polo reached on a leadoff walk. Polo attempted to steal second base, but Castillo delivered a perfect throw to the bag as Segura raced over from the hole and dove across the base, simultaneously receiving the ball and applying the tag to help preserve the lead.
