CHICAGO -- When Todd Frazier talked to his mom, Joan, on Sunday morning, she had a request for the White Sox third baseman.
"She said, 'Get me a hit,'" said a smiling Frazier after a 3-1 White Sox victory over the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. "I didn't get her a hit, but I got an RBI, so I'm sure she'll take that. She was excited for the call."
Frazier, his teammates and countless other players around Major League Baseball put forth a Mother's Day honor while also raising awareness for the fight against breast cancer. They wore pink wristbands, had pink in their hats and uniforms and even had pink cleats.

Six of the White Sox starting nine used the pink bats and had fun with the important change for the day.
"Absolutely," said White Sox closer David Robertson, who picked up his 10th save by working a scoreless ninth. "The fact that we can raise awareness by wearing the pink gear we have is a really nice thing that MLB is doing and hopefully it will continue."

"Yeah, it's great. I know the guys enjoy it," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "When it first started, guys used pink bats and blue bats and things like that. I think it's great to mix it up and also make a statement at the same time. It's fun, it breaks it up, and everybody likes to say thanks to mom."

In conjunction with the Mother's Day theme, Melky Cabrera, Adam Eaton, Dan Jennings, Robertson, Jake Petricka and Avisail Garcia were all joined by their wives and children in throwing out ceremonial first pitches. Garcia joked that his wife, Anakarina, was nervous but enjoyed the moment.

"We think about all the stuff, the cancer, all the support for them," Garcia said. "It's good that MLB and the teams do that for all the people."
"You see everyone out there supporting it. It was good. I know my mom likes that kind of stuff," Frazier said. "Hopefully all the Mothers can enjoy this day after this win."
