Minors report: Moncada showing off power

MLB.com

CHICAGO -- Well, it's official: There's a date in which the No. 1 prospect in the Majors, Yoan Moncada, will set foot on a Major League field and represent the White Sox.

Unfortunately for White Sox hopeful anticipating a callup, it will be as a participant in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game. He'll join fellow prospects Michael Kopech and Zack Collins as the White Sox team representatives for the game in Miami on July 9. As far as when Moncada will eventually break through to the Majors, White Sox management said nothing is set in stone.

"We're going to continue to monitor him there, talk with our player development folks," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said. "Once it comes time for him to have that next stage of development in Chicago, we'll see him up here."

Moncada had another strong week, knocking his second homer in a five-game stretch on Wednesday night for Triple-A Charlotte and earning an International League All-Star bid along the way.

The 2017 Futures Game takes place on Sunday, July 9, at 4 p.m. ET at Marlins Park in Miami and can be viewed live on MLB Network and MLB.com.

So who else has stood out in the White Sox system?

Reynaldo Lopez, Triple-A Charlotte

Lopez has struggled to find his footing at times this season, but the club's No. 5 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, put together a strong outing Thursday. The right-hander gave up a run in 6 2/3 innings, including a season-high 11 strikeouts.

Dane Dunning, Class A Advanced Winston-Salem

The starting pitchers have been on a tear at Winston-Salem, including a stretch from June 23-28 in which none of the starters allowed an earned run. Dunning picked up a loss Wednesday but was strong, allowing just two unearned runs over seven innings, his third consecutive quality start. Dunning is the club's No. 11 prospect.

Micker Adolfo, Class A Kannapolis

Adolfo was impressive in May, earning the organization's Player of the Month honors for the month, but he has seen a power surge in June. The White Sox No. 21 prospect has posted a .921 OPS this month, with eight homers and 20 RBIs, including three homers in his past 10 games (entering Friday).

Worth noting

Lucas Giolito, the White Sox No. 4 prospect, matched a season high by going seven innings and allowing three runs while striking out seven on June 27 for Charlotte.

• Collins is in the midst of s slump at the plate for Winston-Salem, going 3-for-34 (.088) over his last 10 games. While he has struggled at the dish, he's still getting on base, slashing .206/.362/.399 this season.

• Alec Hanson, the White Sox No. 12 prospect, was solid in his Class A Advanced debut on Monday, tossing five shutout innings, scattering four hits and walking none.
