Anderson day to day with bruised left hand

DETROIT -- Rookie shortstop left Thursday's 6-3 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park after being struck in the left hand by a pitch to lead off the game. moved from second base to shortstop, while Carlos Sanchez entered the game at second.
The club later announced that Anderson exited with a bruised hand, and X-rays were negative. He is day to day. Anderson said after the game that it was a scary moment considering four other White Sox rookies have been injured this season.
"It was relieving to get those X-rays negative," Anderson said. "It was a good moment, but a bad moment at the same time."
Anderson expects to miss a few days, but he doesn't think it will have too much of a lingering effect.
The pitch that hit Anderson was initially ruled a foul ball, but the White Sox challenged the call, and replay overturned it. Anderson came around to score on a sacrifice fly hit by before exiting.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura was also nervous following the play that momentarily held up the game when he and trainer Herm Schneider went out to check on him.
"When het got hit, it didn't sound very good," Ventura said. "I know he wasn't feeling very good when we went out and checked on him. You're a little nervous to throw him back out there that he might do something weird diving for a ball or something like that. So it was best to get him checked out."
