TAMPA, Fla. -- Bryan Holaday hit a second-inning grand slam and Ian Kinsler and Steven Moya also homered for the Tigers, but the Yankees rallied to win, 10-9, in Grapefruit League action on Wednesday at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
After Moya's two-run shot in the top of the ninth put Detroit ahead, 9-8, Jorge Mateo led off the bottom of the inning with a triple and scored the tying run on Austin Romine's one-out single. With two outs, Dustin Fowler reached on a fielding error by Justin Krizan, allowing pinch-runner Tyler Wade to score the winning run.

Holaday's shot came off Yankees right-hander Luis Severino, who struggled with his command over 1 1/3 innings, surrendering five runs on two hits. Severino issued two walks, hit a batter and struck out two. He threw 37 pitches, 21 for strikes.
"I was not finishing my pitches," Severino said. "I don't know what happened. In the first inning I was good from the windup, but when I got to the stretch, everything was up."
Mike Pelfrey worked three perfect innings in his Tigers debut, striking out three. The 32-year-old right-hander signed a two-year, $16 million contract with Detroit this offseason.

"I tried to work quick and get that offense back up there," Pelfrey said. "It's fun to watch them hit somebody besides the Twins or myself, so I enjoyed that."
Kinsler hit a fourth-inning homer off non-roster invitee Tyler Cloyd, Kinsler's first of the spring. Tigers designated hitter Cameron Maybin exited after being hit by Severino in the second. He was diagnosed with a left wrist bruise.
Up next for Tigers:Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez return to the Tigers' lineup when they visit Disney's Wide World of Sports complex Thursday for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Braves. Daniel Norris will make his first start, followed by fellow fifth-starter candidate Shane Greene. Mark Lowe, Justin Wilson and Preston Guilmet are also scheduled to pitch. Kinsler will join Cabrera and Martinez against Braves starter Bryan Mitchell.
Up next for the Yankees: Right-hander Ivan Nova (6-11, 5.07 ERA in 2015) will make his first spring start Thursday as the Yankees host the Phillies in a 1:05 p.m. ET contest. Left-hander Adam Morgan will start for Philadelphia. Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran will be in the Yanks' lineup. Girardi said that Rodriguez is slated for three at-bats as the designated hitter.
