MRI reveals no structural damage for Chirinos

ST. PETERSBURG -- Rays rookie had an MRI Thursday morning, and the news came back somewhat positive, even though it's likely that the right-hander will miss about a month after experiencing discomfort in his throwing forearm.
Chirinos has been diagnosed as having a mild flexor strain, but there was no structural damage.
Prior to Tuesday night's game at Detroit, Chirinos was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right forearm strain. Many times a "forearm strain" is the precursor to Tommy John surgery. But that won't be the case with Chirinos.
Left-hander was recalled from Triple-A Durham following Tuesday's placement of Chirinos on the DL.
Meanwhile, right-hander will make a rehab start for Class A Advanced Charlotte on Friday. Eovaldi went on the DL before the season started after having loose bodies removed from his right elbow.
