O's righty to pitch for Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, expected to rejoin club June 18

TORONTO -- Yovani Gallardo will head back to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday and make a final rehab start Monday prior to being activated off the disabled list, Orioles manager Buck Showalter announced on Thursday.
Gallardo rejoined the Orioles after an outing with the Tides on Tuesday. The right-hander allowed three runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings against Durham.
"Yovani is going to throw [on Friday], and he'll pitch on the 13th for Norfolk in Charlotte," Showalter said. "He'll fly out of here on Sunday for that game on Monday, it's a night game, 7:05 [ET]. Hopefully that will be enough, and he can join us on the 18th."
Monday will mark the 30-year-old's third rehab appearance. Gallardo also pitched three innings for Class A Advanced Frederick on June 2, giving up three runs.
"[We] felt it would be good for him to get one more [start]," Showalter said. "He's real close. [Pitching coach Dave Wallace] and I sat down the last couple days and talked to him. We'll see how the work day goes tomorrow, but we think that's the most prudent thing to do with his injury and making sure he has some of that doubt out of his mind, too."
Gallardo, who is 1-1 with a 7.00 ERA with the Orioles, is working his way back from biceps tendinitis suffered in late April.
