OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s have traded first baseman Kendrys Morales and cash to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced today.

Morales was designated for assignment yesterday after Mark Canha was reinstated from the injured list. He was acquired from Toronto March 27 with cash for minor league infielder Jesus Lopez and international slot money and hit .204 with a home run and seven RBI in 34 games with Oakland. Morales started 23 games at first base and five at designated hitter.
