July 2nd, 2019

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated catcher Chris Herrmann from the 60-day injured list and optioned catcher Beau Taylor to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada to the 60-day injured list.

Herrmann was 2-for-13 (.154) with two RBI in seven games with the A’s this spring before undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on March 8. He began the season on the 60-day IL and started his rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on June 13. The 31-year-old left-handed hitter batted .333 with four home runs and 13 RBI in 13 games. Herrmann reached base safely in each contest for a .397 on-base percentage, and hit safely in each of his final six games (11-for-23, .423).

Taylor was selected from Las Vegas June 8 when Nick Hundley went on the IL and hit .211 with two home runs and two RBI in eight games. He is also batting .297 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games with the Aviators.

Estrada was on the A’s Opening Day roster and went 0-2 with a 6.85 ERA in five starts before he was placed on the 10-day injured list April 17 with a lumbar strain.
