Blue Jays Acquire White And De Jesus

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired RHP Mitch White and INF Alex De Jesus from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for LHP Moises Brito and RHP Nick Frasso.

White, 27, has made 10 starts and five relief appearances for the Dodgers this season, going 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA and a .237 opponents’ batting average. The native of San Jose, CA, was Los Angeles’ second-round pick in the 2016 draft and made his Major League debut in 2020. During his three big league seasons, the 6-3, 210 lb. swingman has compiled a 3-5 record with a 3.58 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.

De Jesus, 20, has batted .272 with 20 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, and 48 RBI, for a .833 OPS while playing for both Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Advanced-A Great Lakes, this season. The 6-2, 170 lb. right-handed hitter signed with the Dodgers in 2018. Over the course of his three Minor League campaigns, the native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has slashed .273/.376/.434 with 89 extra-base hits in 241 games.

Brito, 20, was signed by the Blue Jays to a Minor League contract two months ago, on June 2. The native of Bani, Dominican Republic, has gone 2-4 with a 1.86 ERA across 12 games with Toronto’s Dominican Summer League squad.

Frasso, 23, has started seven games for Single-A Dunedin and three for Advanced-A Vancouver this season, combining for a 0.74 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP. The 6-5, 200 lb. righty was selected by the Blue Jays in the fourth round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft. The product of Loyola Marymount University owns a 0.65 ERA and a .131 opponents’ batting average during his two Minor League seasons.
