Colorado Rockies recall right-handed pitcher Jesus Tinoco from Triple-A Albuquerque

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jesus Tinoco from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned infielder Brendan Rodgers to Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Tinoco, 24, will be making his second stint on the active roster this year … was originally recalled from Albuquerque on May 31 and made his Major League debut that night vs. Toronto, tossing a scoreless ninth inning in his only Major League appearance before being optioned on June 2 … in 23 relief appearances for Albuquerque this season, has gone 3-1 with a 4.34 ERA (29.0 IP, 14 ER), 11 walks and 19 strikeouts … was originally signed by Toronto as a non-drafted international free agent on Sept. 22, 2011 … the native of San Antonio de Maturin, Venezuela, was acquired by the Rockies from Toronto along with right-handers Miguel Castro and Jeff Hoffman as well as infielder Jose Reyes in exchange for right-hander LaTroy Hawkins and infielder Troy Tulowitzki on July 28, 2015 … across parts of eight Minor League seasons in the Toronto (2012-15) and Colorado (2015-19) organizations, is 35-53 with a 4.73 ERA (677.0 IP, 356 ER), 211 walks and 550 strikeouts.   • Rodgers, 22, has batted .246 (16-for-65) with seven runs, two doubles, seven RBI, four walks and 22 strikeouts across 21 games in his first career stint on the active roster since his contract was purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 17 … in 35 games with Albuquerque this season, has batted .356 (48-for-135) with 34 runs, 10 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 21 RBI, 14 walks and 25 strikeouts … in 385 career games across parts of five Minor League seasons in the Rockies organization, the Winter Park, Fla., native has batted .296 (450-for-1518) with 247 runs, 102 doubles, eight triples, 66 home runs, 245 RBI, 109 walks, 323 strikeouts and 24 stolen bases.
