Colorado Rockies recall right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup to Triple-A.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup to Triple-A.
· Díaz, 26, will be making his second appearance on the Rockies active roster this season … was recalled from Triple-A on June 26 and made one appearance, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with two strikeouts in one inning pitched at San Francisco … was optioned back to Triple-A the following day … in 15 appearances with Albuquerque and High-A Lancaster, has gone 0-1 with a 3.07 ERA (14.2 IP, 5 ER), two walks and 19 strikeouts … missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery … began the 2017 season on the 10-day disabled list prior to being reinstated and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on April 29 … in his first season with the Rockies in 2015, went 0-1 with a 2.37 ERA (19.0 IP, 5 ER), six walks and 18 strikeouts in 21 appearances … made his Major League debut with Los Angeles-AL in 2014 and allowed two runs in 5.2 innings pitched with three walks and eight strikeouts over five appearances … was acquired by Colorado from the Angels in exchange for Josh Rutledge on Dec. 10, 2014.
· Rosscup, 29, made three appearances with the Rockies after his recall from Triple-A on July 8, allowing one run on four hits in 3.2 innings pitched (2.45 ERA) … was acquired via trade from the Chicago Cubs on June 26 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Matt Carasiti … made one appearance for the Cubs this season, pitching 0.2 innings of hitless, scoreless relief on May 22 vs. San Francisco … spent the entire 2016 season on the 60-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation … in 64 career relief appearances with Chicago (2013-17) and Colorado (2017), has gone 3-1 with a 5.19 ERA (50.1 IP, 29 ER), 47 hits, 32 walks and 62 strikeouts … was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 28th round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft before being traded to Chicago on January 8, 2011. 
The Rockies have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
